Leaving Los Angeles soon

For some reason, this blog service isn't that great and I've had problems in adding more photos. Even though photos are the most interesting, you'll just have to do with boring text :)

The Warner Brothers Studio was really interesting to see. We saw different streets and buildings which have been used in various different TV series and films. Reeta and I were probably most hyped of visiting the Central Perk cafe of Friends (photo on my Facebook page under Mobile uploads) and the Ellen DeGeneres studio. It was funny to think we were at the same locations where the movie stars have been. We also saw various cars used in films like Matrix, Batman (the Bat Mobile), Harry Potter, the Shaguar (Jaguar) from Austin Powers etc. There's photos of these also on my Facebook profile. We also visited a Hollywood museum at the studios where there were costumes worn by different actors: Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, Keanu Reeves, Drew Barrimore etc. etc. Reeta had never visited any of the studios, so it was nice to offer her a new experience in her hometown.

Yesterday (Thursday) we just visited a book shop (bro: I got you the blue-ray you wanted) and a food store, went to the local pool and then I had the same park exercise class with Reeta in the evening. This was much easier than Tuesday's exercise as there was more emphasis on upper body this time. We came home, put the kids to sleep and Kaarle, Reeta, Rick and I had dinner and chatted late into the night.

Today there's not much plans. We'll do some laundry and we might go for a Chinese massage with Reeta. In the evening, Reeta's husband Rick has arranged a outdoor movie night for local residents. It's 8.30pm though, so Safia will be probably sleeping. We'll just might have to take turns with Kaarle to have a chance to visit the movie spot. It's funny that despite the time difference and all, Safia has chosen to take the same rhythm than in Finland. Around 8 pm to bed and 6-7 am to wake up. How is that possible?! :)

Safia has been quite cute playing with little Ricky. You can see when she's clearly trying to communicate in her own language to Ricky. Today morning when she woke up she was raising her hand towards the ceiling fan as pointing it out. Many shop personnel have talked to Safia and she has been smiling back at them or talking to them in her own language. Apparently in that sense, she is starting to remind me when I was young :)

Today is thus the last full day in Los Angeles and tomorrow we have a flight to New York. It seems like we've seen enough of this city. It was great to see and of course to stay with Reeta but this city is definitely not a place Kaarle and I would live in. It would be too frustrating for us to live in a place, where distances are long and you would have to drive everywhere all the time. Cars are big, highways have six lanes and every house has at least two cars. I do wonder how this place would survive if the price of oil shot up drastically.

New York is next with a completely different town planning, and where driving is more of a hassle than an easy way to move around. Already now, there's so many places I want to visit there. Luckily we have over 10 days to explore the town. Of course, it's been nice staying here in a house, where there has been all baby equipment and toys, and Ricky to entertain Safia. It's also been nice to mainly eat here at "home". In New York, we'll be staying at a hotel, so Safia will have less space to more around, less things to play with and we'll not have a kitchen to easily prepare her food. It will be more touristy life over there but hopefully a good time too.

More reports later!

Lots of love, A
